MEET SWITZERLAND

Lake towns, old streets and Alpine valleys.

Let lakes and mountain bases set the rhythm. A small number of overnight stops makes room for scenic detours and weather changes. Our preview mixes city areas with valleys and landmark sites; broad-area pins are starting references, not arrival entrances.

WHEN WILL YOU GO?

Same country.
Four different moods.

These are broad seasonal patterns, not a forecast. The coast, mountains and far north can feel very different on the same date.

A JOURNEY TO BUILD ON

Zurich → Lucerne → Bernese Oberland · 7 days

An editorial planning idea, not a tested driving route. Choose transport that suits the journey, allow transfer time, and confirm schedules and access before booking.

  1. STAGE 01

    Zurich · 2 days

Start with the old town; consider a separate Rhine Falls outing.

  2. STAGE 02

    Lucerne · 2 days

Leave time for the lake and check cruise schedules before planning around them.

  3. STAGE 03

    Interlaken + Lauterbrunnen · 3 days

Choose one base and use flexible days for valley visits. Compare rail and road options.

The map button highlights sample places only. It does not draw or calculate a route. Day counts are suggested pacing, with transport, tickets and accommodation arranged separately.

BEFORE YOU GO

Arrival made clearer.

Official services, the right order, and a little preparation. Requirements depend on your passport, residence, route and purpose of travel.

AT THE EXTERNAL BORDER

Entry/Exit System (EES)

EES records eligible non-EU short-stay travellers at the external Schengen border. It is a border registration process, not a visa or a universal online arrival-card form.

How to prepare · 4 steps
  1. Check who EES applies to on the official EU site and separately check your visa requirements.
  2. Travel with the required documents and allow time for the border process.
  3. Follow officers’ instructions for passport checks and any required biometric registration.
  4. The optional Travel to Europe app is available at selected border points only; check official availability before using it.

STATUS CHECKED 9 SEP 2026

ETIAS: applications not open

The EU currently says ETIAS is not operational and no applications are being collected; launch is planned for the last quarter of 2026. Recheck the official status before your trip.

How to prepare · 2 steps
  1. Use the official EU website to check whether ETIAS has launched before your travel dates.
  2. Once operational, follow its passport eligibility and application guidance if it applies to you. There is no application to complete while it remains closed.

BEFORE YOU CHOOSE

A few useful answers.

What can I try for free?

Explore 10 Switzerland places, open place cards and Google Maps links, switch place-card language, and keep favourites in this browser. Map-file downloads are not included in the free preview.

Can I buy the full collection today?

Not yet. “Buy now” currently opens a clearly marked test checkout. No money or payment details are collected, and no order is created.

Will the maps work offline or give directions?

The planned KML/KMZ files contain place information; they do not include offline background maps or turn-by-turn navigation. Supported apps and import instructions will be confirmed for the paid release.

How should I use the location information?

Each free card shows its review status. These new map records still need place-specific source checks. Check current access, weather and opening conditions before travelling. A place pin is not always a verified parking or visitor entrance.
